Arterial blood gases

Arterial Blood gases test is an easy test to help determine whether there is a disorder in the amount of oxygen (PO2) or carbon dioxide (PCO2) in the blood which could indicate problems with lungs, heart, kidney or even brain problems.

This test is performed by collecting arterial blood. Illnesses like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), kidney or heart failure, exacerbation of asthma and many other illnesses could affect the arterial blood gases. This test is very useful when it is carried out with cardiopulmonary test/spirometry test.
